Song Jim never got to sing

Hi,
I know back some time ago I thought that the song called "Not that I Care" written by Cindy Walker was one that they were going to have Jim Reeves look at how ever he passed on before he saw it. I may be wrong but for what it is worth I tried my hand at it and sang it on You tube. Here in My attempt of trying to think how would Jim have sang it. Hope you enjoy.
No one can come close to Jim voice so just hope you who listen enjoys it. I am not sure I was able to get the path of my singing it. If not just look up (Richard Payne,Jim reeves) and you should be able to find it

Nice job, Richard. I had not heard that song before, but it certainly is in the Jim Reeves style, and Cindy may well have written it with Reeves in mind. Do you know when the song was copyrighted?

The first time I ever heard this song was on a Willie Nelson Tribute album to Cindy Walker called "You Don't Know Me, the Songs of Cindy Walker"...I'm not a big Willie fan, but I thought this song sounded like one Jim would have done a great job with, naturally.

Don't get this song - too hill billy/supine
Sounded like a drunk karoke cannot imagine the great jr singing this one.

Hi,
I think its one he could have sung and posted about this back in August 2015 (I just wonder!). I think first recorded by the Wilburn Brothers in 1964, then Hank Cochran in 65. The version I liked was by Ricky Van Shelton.

Hey Rick,

Another version of this song on youtube is done by Ronnie Milsap (who did a tribute album of JRs songs in the early 80s and did it quite well IMO).His version has a JR ring to it=the piano suggests Dean playing and the background singers could well have been the Kerr group. Enjoy!

This would have been a perfect song for Jim! The lyrics remind me of the song "She Thinks I Still care". Not that they're similar, just the idea behind them.A beautiful song done well by Ricky Van Shelton. Jim could have hit this one out of the ballpark!...
