New Patsy Cline Museum in Nashville

A new Patsy Cline museum is scheduled to be opened in Nashville.

Since the Patsy Cline museum will be owned and operated by Bill Miller, the same person who owns the Johnny Cash museum, I'm sure it will do very well. The JC museum is doing great so far.

Perhaps Mr. Miller would consider approaching Mike Curb concerning the Jim Reeves memorabilia? It would be nice to have the Reeves' memorabilia displayed once again as it once was? Since all of the Reeves memorabilia is stored in an undisclosed location in Nashville, it would be nice if it were to be displayed again. Jim Reeves certainly deserves better!!

Jim certainly does deserve much better! And I do hope Bill Miller will reach out to Curb to set up a museum for Jim. But I can't imagine it happening anytime soon, if at all.

Just a thought or two about these museums.It is stated that Bill Miller "owns" the Johnny Cash museum.It is interesting to note that Mike Curb whom Mr. Newberry sold his JR memorabilia to owns a huge collection of Cash material as well.Just wondering if any of that has been loaned(at a cost) out to Mr. Miller which might lend some degree of hope that the same could be done for some of the JR stuff to a Mr. Miller or someone who might wish to put out all the coin to get such an enterprise off the ground and keep it running at a profit. My other thought re the Cash material is that I was through the original Cash museum (Hendersonville ?) and there was enough material in there to seemingly outfit two or three museums if one desired. So it is possible that Miller's stuff might be from a later or an earlier time period then Mr. Curbs. Cheers

The Jim Reeves memorabilia you speak of went from the hands of one eccentric wealthy hoarder to the hands of another eccentric wealthy hoarder, where I suspect it will remain as it already has for decades. Many people who donated items in the good faith belief their treasures would be put on public display so other fans could enjoy them, have been badly betrayed many times over.

There are people in this world who fixate on acquiring items for the sake of collecting. The hoarders I've known don't even enjoy what they have; they lock it away even from themselves. The mere fact that they know they have it appears to fulfill some deep-seated need they have for fulfillment. There are TV programs that profile these individuals and psychologists talk of a "hoarding syndrome."

There is also a narcissistic element to this whereby hoarders don't give a damn about anybody else. As long as they have bragging rights, that's all that matters.

The story of how so many of Jim Reeves' priceless and historic artifacts have ended up in the hands of some of these people would astonish you, as there is such aggressive treachery and deception involved in most of it.

Many people who helped these collectors are now dead, and a lot of fans who had been promised they'd be able to have access to Jim's memorabilia are also deceased.

There is also a very disturbing lack of conscience on the part of hoarders who would walk over their own grandmothers to get what they want.

Virtual museum

Museums have the problem of requiring hoarders (sometimes with mental conditions) to release their collections however these people have no interest in genuine fans or even jr. Surely the way forward is to add to the rapidly growing list of virtual museums that are accessible at all times and by everyone using the latest digital imagery technology.

Hard to argue with the logic of Mr. James when you read that Mr. Miller the owner of the Cash site reportedly spent 7 million dollars to open his museum .As well, the Country Hall of Fame has a regular rotation of displays of various country artists that would cover many of the singers/entertainers that have been popular in the past but certainly would not/could not open their own sites. A great idea in my humble opinion!

There are a lot of Reeves artifacts in the hands of private individuals around the world, some of whom put them on display, such as the Swedish Jim Reeves museum run by Bjorn Herlin and his lovely wife, Birgitta. They host visitors from around the world. There are pictures of this museum on my blog.

Also, I have some of Jim's personal items that I own displayed on my blog. Click the link below to read the story behind my futile attempts (along with several others) to prevent the destruction of the Reeves estate and the myopic disinterest of a key Reeves family member who couldn't have cared less about Jim's personal possessions and rejected sound legal advice on how it could be protected.
