Word has reached us that the much-heralded Bear Family boxed set on Patsy Cline, that was supposedly the be-all to end-all set of rarities and studio tracks, has either been delayed indefinitely or has completely fallen through. It's been months and months since this set was bragged about on the net -- ironically by a Canadian guy who claimed to be participating in the new project, and who spent 24/7 for days back in 2013 trashing "The Divine Ms. Cline" CD right after it came out. Poetic justice, I'd say.
There's always some nutcase somewhere who is lurking in the shadows, ready to pounce on a good project and try to destroy it with lies and personal attacks. Then this fellow ends up helping Bear. Hmmm....
Perhaps the word of the demise of the Bear set is the reason why sales of the Patsy CD (produced by VoiceMasters for H&H Music Ltd.) have taken off like a rocket on the website that is devoted to her (which Patsy's widower, Mr. Dick, induced webmasters of Patsy sites to suppress any mention of in exchange for steak dinners he publicly promised them. You see, he isn't earning any royalties. Risky move on Dick's part as that's called "tortious interference").
So for anybody who loves Patsy, and would like to hear some incredible NEW overdubs plus some previously unreleased live tracks. click the link below to listen to some samples and to order this extraordinary release.
PLUS PLEASE HELP SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT "THE DIVINE MS. CLINE" ON FACEBOOK; there are plenty of sites Dick hasn't managed to influence.
It is also a great pity that RCA & Decca were so 'back-ward' looking back in the 60's,I know Jim and Patsy appeared on the same show sometimes, but never recorded together,it would have been wonderful if they had recorded a 'Duets' album together, the two companies could have released the recordings on both labels, and doubled their money, seems odd to me that they didn't think of that!

Bill Larson, one of Jim's charter pilots, remembers Jim and Patsy singing duets on stage LIVE during some shows he witnessed and of course Patsy hitched a ride with them on a plane Reeves chartered.
So there are fans out there probably still today who attended live concerts where Reeves and Cline sang duets. Bill cannot recall the songs but vividly remembers this happening and how wonderful it was to hear the two of them together. Imagine!
Since they never recorded together, it's interesting to ponder WHAT songs they would have done. Probably something from the charts of the time -- other artists's duets. That leaves open a number of possibilities.

Larry,
Jim and Patsy recorded separately
Someday, You'll Want Me to Want You That's My Desire You Belong to Me Have You Ever Been Lonely and I Fall to Pieces
Mary took them to Owen Bradley and he could do something with the latter two in 1981 and 1982 but the other three he said could not be "merged." With the new technology, is it "possible" the other three songs could be made into duets? If so, how about an album with these five duets, and new overdubs with the songs mentioned?

It would require access to the original 3-track masters and Sony ain't gonna give that up to nobody without big bucks.

They, Owen and Bill Harris did plan to record "That's My Desire". I took a photo of the Ampex 1" Tape box which shows this detail and yes they had placed Patsy's 3 tracks onto the 24 track tape. Owen and Bill (engineer) told me they ran out of time because all the vocal editing had to be made with a razor blade! This was in the control room of the RCA studio as I filmed the TVS film crew at the same time. That was in 1989 now depending on track bleed it could me possible.
