I just wonder

Sometimes you hear a song that maybe Jim sang but never recorded. Listening to a playlist on Youtube of a well known country artist, such a song stood out that could have been written for Jim.
The song was 'Not that I care' sung by Ricky Van Shelton and written by Cindy Walker c1964.

Hi Peter,

I agree with you 100%.Given the writer I would have bet that Cindy would have offered it to Jim if she hadn't already.
Speaking of Cindy, I heard Cindy the singer for the first time ever on Ranger Doug's XM radio program a few weeks ago.I must confess I did not know that side of her many talents.Very interesting !

I think Van Shelton's version is similar to how Jim would have recorded it. And I think it would have been a big hit for Jim in the mid-sixties. Beautiful song. I would not be surprised if Cindy wrote that song with Jim in mind as the recording artist.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this, but "I Just Wonder" is not the title of the song, although these words are mentioned in the lyrics. The actual title is "Not That I Care". I'm not a fan of today's country music, but this is a very nice recording and Ricky sings it beautifully. I agree that Jim could have had a big hit with it, had Cindy brought this one to him. Could it be that Jim died before Cindy had a chance to offer it to him?

Mike, That could be. Larry might know. Or, maybe Cindy had shown the song to Jim and he was planning to record it. It saddens me that Jim was unable to record this song, and many others that I would have loved to hear him sing.

Yes, Gary, maybe Cindy did give Jim the song, and he never got the chance to record it. It's too bad that Cindy is no longer with us either. She's might be the only person who could have answered this question...
