People ask me of all the CDs on various artists that I have produced, which is my personal favorite. Believe it or not, it's not Jim Reeves! It's a CD called "Bing Crosby and Rosemary Clooney: The New Recordings."
Now this doesn't mean that I like Bing better than Jim, though I admire Crosby's crooning very much, and he set the standard for Jim and others. It's just that this particular project was so much fun to work on, and entailed such incredible musicians.
The Bing Crosby fan club, which purports to be the oldest such club in the world, with an international membership, raved about the CD, which co-starred the great Rosemary Clooney, one of the truly great vocalists of all time.
They were personal friends and the chemistry between them was palpable. They of course starred in the classic movie, "White Christmas", and also did a lot of radio and TV work together.
The album I produced was based largely on long-forgotten recordings done for network radio shows, and which were never intended for commercial release. They were done when both of these singers were in prime vocal form.
Predictably, one of the world's largest record labels, Universal Music Group, filed a copyright infringement complaint against us with YouTube and got the video taken down.
Big mistake. I don't like to be bullied. So our legal team went after them.
They LOST.
So the promo video featuring excerpts from this wonderful CD is online again. We'll see if they take a page from Sony's book and file a fraudulent claim like SME did, falsely alleging our video includes songs it doesn't even contain!
It's always bemusing -- and flattering -- that these big labels go to such desperate lengths to try to censor or suppress perfectly legal AND LICENSED CDs that I produce. Such as "ELVIS: THE NEW RECORDINGS" that Sony has temporarily interfered with, because it reached best-seller status and has outsold some of their own Elvis titles. (Sony has even decided to do their own overdubs. What a joke!)
Anyway, click the link below to enjoy some tuneful excerpts from the Bing Crosby and Rosemary Clooney I produced and by the way, you may want to add this CD to your collection. It is gorgeous...
Incidentally, among the talented musicians who performed on this is my good friend Arne Benoni, who played guitar on several tracks, including "Goodnight, Sweet Dreams, Mary Lou." Listen for it...
