Was driving with radio in the background when JR singing there's an old Christmas card came on - simply wonderful. They later played Charlie Pride with they stood in silent prayer.

Rodney, same for me. I was listening to Charlie Monk on Roadhouse (Serius xm) one morning last week when he played 'I Won't Come while He's There' and an hour later he played 'An Old Christmas Card'. Really nice to hear. Radio Fremantle in Western Australia have a weekly 'Rare Reeves' feature on 'Creative Country', accessible on line, and I heard Jim sing 'When you are Gone' on the galaxy digital channel (t.v. feed) a couple of weeks ago. Actually it is not unusual to hear Jim on Galaxy radio. I am always impressed by this station here in Canada.
We did a new overdub of "An Old Christmas Card" for "The Great Jim Reeves" 8 CD set that features an expanded string section and other instruments, plus a remastering of Jim's rich voice so you hear him with greater clarity. I'm very proud of how well this turned out, and can't even listen to the "old" version anymore because this one is so much better. Some very talented musicians were involved in our overdubbing, as I've noted before.
You can hear an excerpt of this and other of Jim's Christmas songs at the link below.
My favorite of Jim's Christmas songs. It is a great song, written by Vaughn Horton. I love your version of Jim doing it Larry. And I love the original version too.
I love this song as it so seasonal and sentimental and a great performance. One of my fovourites. It is still often played in the UK. I always thought that Jim Reeves was also added into the background singing as well, although not at the same time of his recording!

There's a Facebook page called "Classic Country Music Stories." One of the stories they posted was about "An Old Christmas Card."
Below is that story:
"An Old Christmas Card" was recorded October 19, 1962 at "Little Victor", RCA's nickname for its Nashville studio in the old days (it wasn't dubbed "Studio B" until several years later). Composer Vaughn Horton wrote this tune especially for Bing Crosby back in 1948, but Bing never got around to recording it, so the song lay dormant until Jim Reeves discovered it while searching for material for his 1962 holiday offering "Twelve Songs Of Christmas". "An Old Christmas Card" was a sentimental favorite from the album, and Jim liked it so much that he convinced RCA to release it as a single the following year. The recording features a striking high soprano by Winifred Breast on the vocal intro and chorus, and an unusual arrangement which has Jim singing in unison with the Anita Kerr Singers, which was rarely done on Jim's records. The result, as you'll hear, turned out wonderfully.
