JIm Reeves Memorial Book and Photos

Just had a look at the 1965 Jim Reeves Memorial album and photos book published by Mary Reeves. I'm surprised that there are still copies floating about as it was such a long time ago. The book can be read on a Dutch site managed by Tom Orie. I was very surprised to see a very rare picture in it of Jim Reeves' grave in its pre-statue days. The area near the grave looked very rough and rundown, and was marked by a single small cross. I have only ever seen a picture after the area was landscaped so this is very rare indeded. God bless Mary for the beautiful monument to Jim.

I had found a copy of that book many years ago at a music and collectable shop on West End Avenue in Nashville called "The Great Escape". I haven't been back there in a long time so that shop could have closed up by now. Anyway, my book has the autographs of three of the four Blueboys at that time including Bud Logan, Leo Jackson and Bunky Keels. You might try Amazon or Ebay for availability. It seems like that book was reprinted at least once by Mary Reeves for purchase at the JR Museum.

There is a copy of the book "Jim Reeves Memorial & Souvenir Photo Album" on Amazon UK. Price is £9.70. And on Amazon.com for $17.50 onwards.

Yes, it was reprinted by Mary, I believe, to sell at the museum. My Mom had a first edition of the book, which had a plain black cover with the name of the book going along the bottom with a small picture of Jim. The re-print, which I ordered from the museum, had a different, much nicer front cover with the picture of Jim that was on the cover of the re-issue of the "He'll Have To Go" LP. On the LP, the photo was in color, but on the book, it was in black and white.
