July is a sad month for all JR fans and as we approach the half-century mark of his passing, I like to remember the Great Jim Reeves in the following manner: i) as a young man who came to this world from an impoverished background, born to humble parents and who was bestowed the most beautiful voice that God ever gave to man; ii) a man who put a lot of feelings to the words behind the songs and who went to become an artist to achieve international stardom and who is still loved and cherished by people all over the world; iii) a human like all of us filled with shortcomings and weaknesses that can be forgiven thru repentance from God and lastly, iv) a man of deep faith, a firm believer in God. This is evident in many of his gospel, narratives and songs in his repertoire where he invokes references to God freely.
Although the world has lost an irreplaceable singer, his unique golden voice will resonate - you will be remembered and never forgotten.
On another note - Thank you Larry and Julie for your untiring quest in continuing to keep Jim's legacy alive.- - - - From the well-researched Bio to the countless release of digitally remastered, overdubbed, VoiceMasters CDs, with spectacular new musical settings, each version better than the one before and keeping the Fans always apprised of new endeavors - For this, we are truly grateful.
