A number of fans have written both Larry and me to suggest that some gathering take place this year at which fans from around the world could come together to celebrate the life of our favorite singer, Jim Reeves. While it's a nice idea, it's probably not very practical. Although we have no doubt there are plenty of fans who would be willing to travel thousands of miles to attend such a function.
All sorts of questions arise, such as where would it be held, what would take place, etc.? It sounds like a tremendous organizational challenge. It's not that we haven't considered this before, but the idea never jelled because of so many factors beyond our control.
However, it is also true that there are going to be a number of smaller celebrations and various artists making tours around the world to promote the music of Jim Reeves. One that comes to mind is Arne Benoni, who is planning a wonderful tribute concert that is going to be VERY special. More about that later.
But we'd appreciate your letting us know if you hear of any special celebrations, CDs, videos, articles, or anything else that you may hear about that you think fans would be interested in.
Please email me (juliecj@iowatelecom.net) when you find out anything that pertains to a Jim Reeves event.
I can tell you this: Something truly wonderful IS going to happen later this year that Larry is involved in and it is going be VERY EXCITING.
