I have an old reel-to-reel recording I made off the radio sometime in the 70s or 80s of a program called "A Country Christmas with Eddy Arnold and Brenda Lee." It was a 12-hour broadcast, with the actual program probably about 9-10 hours in length without commercials, news breaks, etc. It is narrated by Eddy and Brenda and they tell anecdotes about Christmas and Christmas recordings, then play Christmas songs by various country artists, interspersed with country artists' comments as well. At various times throughout that broadcast there are sound bites featuring Mary Reeves introducing a Jim Reeves song or just talking about something. Among other things, Mary talks about the first cake she baked, about Jim liking the songs White Christmas and An Old Christmas Card and about the release of Snow Flake at Christmastime. Does anybody on this forum know anything about the recordings of Mary Reeves used for that program? Were they cut from an interview Mary made outside of the "Country Christmas" program; or were they recorded specifically for it? Does anybody have any other similar recordings Mary made that were perhaps not included in that show? Thanks, and Merry Christmas to all Jim Reeves fans on this forum. Frank

There was a radio show about Jim's life that Mary sold on cassette tape back in the '80's in the Jim Reeves Museum gift shop. That show was narrated by Eddy Arnold and was very good.Mary talked a lot about Jim in that show too, as did many other friends and performers that Jim knew during his lifetime. I would assume that these were all recorded specifically for these shows, but there are times I'm sure that some audio is taken from other places to use in these shows.
I am certain that some portions of a tape that Jim made for the BBC way back in 1963 were also used in the Yours Sincerely album so it it's quite possible that they may have sourced some of the recordings from other places for the broadcast concerned. That said, i could wrong and they were recorded specifically for the show that you have on the reel to reel tape.
