I mentioned, during one of my reflective moods, how much had changed in Nashville since Jim was there and that Jim would nor recognize anything he would have remembered. And now closing the only original store, replacing it with yet another over crowded eating joint.
Doris was kind enough to reply, and reflected on a time her and Elmer were at the Opry while Jim was there. The icing on the cake happened when Jim crossed the street from that performance and since Ernest was not in town, he (Jim) would give an hours worth of songs at the store. Doris mentioned Jim inviting them to front row seats and asking them for requests, and giving a very personal performance , Doris said they would never forget this special time.. Something us fans could only dream of I'm sure.
This is just one of the stories, over her many years of posting, of her close contact with Jim, all of which she shared with us fans here on the Forum.
We have lost a valuable member of this Forum and I wanted to acknowledge her contribution over the many cherished years she posted. She will be sorely missed.
