Country Music touring shows were much less sophisticated and polished back in the day.

I imagine some agency produced most of the shows and provided some jokes and other material for numerous touring artists.

When Johnny Russell opened the show for Johnny Cash in Springfield Massachusetts he used the joke about some songs being fast, some being slow, and some being "half-fast" which sounded like what it was supposed to imply. First time I heard it, it was funny.

Later it amused me to hear Jim blow the same joke at the concert on Oslo, Norway, which reinforced my belief that some outfit produced the various numerous artists show material.
