I spent time with Marty twice over the years and am quoted in a book about him. Jim and Marty had a mutual respect but sometimes their egos clashed. Once in Florida, when they were both booked at a fair, they argued over who would get top billing. Then one of them came out and did all of the other guy’s songs (I think Mary sang Jim’s, leaving Jim with nothing to sing but Marty’s! Can you imagine what a show that must have been? Ha.)
When both were alive, they were widely regarded around Nashville as being the two best male singers in town...and they were.
The reason I mention all this is I wanted to tell you about a new CD I produced called “MARTY ROBBINS: THE LOST RECORDINGS.” Just like the one I did recently called “Jim Reeves: The Lost Recordings,” this one is also filled with previously UNreleased live performances -- 33, in fact. Marty even does “An Evening Prayer,” which is the religious number that Jim usually closed his shows with.
The sound quality is SUPERB, as all the tracks have been expertly remastered. I also wrote the liner notes and there are rare pictures. This is a truly historic CD, a real collector's item. NONE of these performances has ever been released anywhere else. (These are different versions than on any other CD).
I can’t say enough good things about this CD because the music is so wonderful and Marty sings SO well. I know a lot of Jim Reeves fans also love Marty, as do I.
So if you’d like to hear another great singer, go to our friends at the Good Music Store online to listen to samples and to order this CD. Just click the link below the picture.
