"Little Leo," as he was nicknamed, who was 49, was apparently engaged in a physical confrontation with his oldest son, Dallas, at the Jackson home near Nashville, when a woman called police.
A standoff occurred and then police heard a single gunshot. They found Leo Jackson, Jr. dead in an upstairs living room area. But a towel was wrapped around his head, which is not normally indicative of suicide. However, it authorities have not ruled out suicide.
In the kitchen area they found Leo Jr.'s son, Dallas, who is 21, on the floor, badly beaten and unconscious. He was life-flighted by helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has been called to investigate the unusual circumstances at the scene.
We extend our deepest sympathies to Nell Jackson, a dear friend, on this horrible tragedy. We will keep you updated. -- JULIE
