Link: Jim slept here
The seller brags it was also on the 2013 Tour of Homes.
Unfortunately, the people that posted this relied on the Streissguth pseudo biography on Reeves as their source. The dates are even wrong when they claim Jim worked for a station in Longview.
Claiming this is the former home of Jim Reeves is a bit like "Washington slept here." Jim also slept at the Holiday Inn but I doubt the owners of the local motel would be promoting it as such.
The fact is, Jim and Mary briefly rented a SLEEPING ROOM in the house. This is attested to by letters that Mary and Jim both wrote and by the recollections of their friends at that time. Implying that this was Jim's home -- that he OWNED -- is irresponsible and ridiculous. But that is the logical inference the seller surely knows people will draw.
The house is far more lavish than the one that Jim and Mary DID own eventually in Madison, Tennessee.
The folly of this listing is evident when one considers Jim was a mere disc jockey just starting out, and was about as dead broke as it gets. How could he have afforded a house this large?
But if you want to take a look at the property, click the link below. I guess it is a testimony to Jim's popularity that people are even going to such far-fetched lengths to sell real estate using his name!
