Link: THE GREAT JIM REEVES 8 CD SET
I learned there were no indigenous people living on the island in 1507. The Dutch settled there in 1638 but abandoned it in 1710. Five years later it became a French colony and later was under control of the British, before gaining its independence in 1968.
One other interesting fact: the island of Mauritius was the only home of the Dodo bird, which became extinct fewer than 80 years after its discovery.
That's your geography and history lesson for the day. Just think how the internet reaches into the most remote corners of the globe, and someone living in such a place orders the latest 8 CD set. Shouldn't you too? -- JULIE
