I met Jim in 1956 for the first time. Jackie Holler was the president of his fan club, as far as I know that was the first one. I had joined the fan club and told Jim that. He said I was the first MN. member and asked me to become his MN. Rep. which I did. That fan club disbanded soon after.
Then I believe Shirley O"Donnell (Jim's secretary) took over the fan club from the office. Herb Shucher, Jim's manager, asked me to become Secretary of that club, which was then 1957.
Then sometime later a gal in Oregon became the President of the club which did not last long. Then Joyce took the reins again in the office and I was asked to be the VP of that club.
The club was disbanded about in 1961 or 1962, after Jim "hit it big". We helped him get there, then he was on his own!
There were no other fan clubs in the USA only this one sanctioned by Jim with different leaders through the years.
I hope this answers your questions, Bill. It was a great, fun experience helping Jim from his start to his finish.
As far as how many journals were issued, I have no idea. I don't have any. I think they were published quarterly. So for about 5 years there was a fan club.
Always for Jim, Doris
