Re: Jim Reeves - RCA Living Stereo
Manendra, I do have a few things I would like to say about the 16-CD set vs. the double-album CD's. As far as I can remember, the sound quality is pretty much the same on both, although I haven't listened to the double-album CD's quite as often as the Bear set. However, there are a few things you should know. The Bear set claims to include every master version of Jim's RCA catalog, but a few of the songs are alternate takes and NOT the version featured on the original LP's. The songs that immediately come to mind are "(It's No)Sin" and the title song from Jim's movie "Kimberley Jim". "(It's No) Sin" is phrased quite differently than the version on the "A Touch Of Velvet" album, and "Kimberley Jim" has a different intro. Jim also sings the song all the way through on the Bear set version. In the film version, the chorus sings the last verse of the song. There are a few other songs with some differences on the Bear set as well.
