Re: Jim's Schizoid diagnoses
In my book I also quote people who marveled at Jim's ability to remain so calm even after terrifying plane rides in bad weather, (as occurred in South Africa), and do a superb show for the fans. Or keep his cool -- as Hank Cochran told me he saw Jim do many times, when accosted by drunks or rude fans when the two were out together socially. So Jim was slow to anger and gentlemanly, but even he had his limits and would erupt on occasion when he felt the situation warranted it. I think some people were surprised by this because he normally maintained a happy-go-lucky demeanor, so it seemed out of character for him to ever get angry. But he was human.
As he commented, being a professional singer is not the easiest way to make a living and there are many stresses imposed on performers that the average person never experiences and knows nothing about.
I don't know of any reason to suspect autism was the source of any of Jim Reeves' issues.
