Mesopotamia(Hebrew equivalent Naharaim) is a name for the area of the Tigris–Euphrates river system, roughly corresponding to modern-day Iraq, Syria and Kuwait, including regions along the Turkish-Syrian and Iran–Iraq borders.
"The first mention of the land of Mesopotamia in the Bible is found in Genesis 2:10. 'Now a river went out of Eden to water the garden, and from there it parted and became four riverheads." The verses after give the names of the rivers as the Pishon, Gihon, Tigris and Euphrates rivers. Now since the Tigris and the Euphrates have their sources in the mountainous region of southern Turkey, it is usually assumed by theologians today that the Garden of Eden is located in that same area."-Australian Author Roger Waite
