The other day I was reading about online security after getting a notification from one of my accounts about a login attempt from an unfamiliar location. Nothing serious happened, but it made me realize how much personal information moves across the internet every day. While looking into security topics, I kept seeing the word "encryption" mentioned everywhere. People often say it’s one of the most important parts of staying safe online, but I’m not very technical and sometimes it feels like one of those terms everyone uses without explaining. How important is encryption in everyday internet use, and does the average person actually benefit from it without realizing it?
