Re: Market for Gatling Guns
I am interested in buying a Gatling but they are out of my price range. Recently I have seen a Furr 1/2 scale for sale at 15K, US Armaments Bulldog at 35K and an Anderson(?) Model 1874 at 45K. These were on either Gunbroker or Auction Arms. None of them sold on the auction sites. I understand that the Gatling is a complicated machine with many parts and lots of hand fitting. What is the lowest price that one can be built for? If the answer is over 25K (and I think it is) then the market is very small. Does anyone know how many companies have built replicas in the last 40 years and how many each of the companies has made? How many are already out there? And why did each company give up? Is anyone interested in the Gardner Gun? There is a company in Connecticut (the Gardner Gun Company making a 1/2 scale replica and, according to Small Arms Review, the Old Western Scrounger was going to make a full size replica (and has a full set of drawings) but nothing came of it. Good luck!
