The D&E looked like a viable design to me as well. However, if you read the posts on the Yahoo Gatling gun group you may change your mind. As I said, I have not found anyone who has said they were able to shoot the gun with any degree of reliability. Apparently it can not handle the firing pin spring tension without breaking the crank handle. The firing pins do not hit on the rim of the rim fire shell. The bolt carrier, pan and barrel ring twist out of alignment, etc. There are a number of guys working on various modifications and design changes but no ones has seem to come up with a working gun. I am trying to decide if I spend another $59.00 and end up scraping my barrels and $50.00 gears or just complete the D&E as a non working model.
