think I've seen listings on ebay with the same name being used which FWIW instantly made me suspicious of both the name and the seller. FWIW, the species are not especially closely related (alba is most closely related to the "red gums" like camaldulensis and tereticormis) as well as being geographically distant so IMHO would be hard listing one as a variety of the other. part of the trouble is common names this species and vimianlis (plus several other species) are all called "white gums" because of the bark color but that is not necessarily a valid way of determining taxonomic relationships.
