I haven't got accurate data on the altitude of E. bicostata, but I don't think it would grow as high as dalrympleana; my guess is maybe up to 1200m. At that level and below the montane forest becomes more diverse; higher up (1200m-1400m) dalrympleana and delegatensis tend to dominate. Snow would probably be a passing phenomenon for the Eurabbie. The other thing about bicostata is it likes sheltered areas.
