raiforests temperate and otherwise

Phil, agreed that deanei and saligna may occupy somewhat different kinds of rainforests which is why i wanted to try deanei for its possible greater hardiness. that said, "temperate" rainforest in australia (sometimes further divided into "cool" and "warm" types)is still generally significantly milder climatically than most forested areas of north america so an austalian temperate species may still not be reliably hardy even in fairly mild areas like mine and species that does thrive is a very pleasant suprise. some other rainforest species that have done fairly well for me are nothofagus cunninghamii and telopea oreades (though the telopea did suffer die-back this winter).
