Re: Acacia and the cold
There are some alpine varieties that may survive in Columbia. I live in Columbia, SC too and I tried many of the above mentioned species and they too met a disasterous end. I then decided to move on with my eucalyptus testing and have not did well here either. All my young (1 Gal.) eucalyptus stock perished this last winter with the exception of a few E. parvula, E. gunnii, and E. neglecta. I have since decided to move on and try growing fruit trees and blueberries and may continue on with just a couple of eucalyptus species. Well to sum things up: Columbia is not a very good eucalyptus environment, which means it presents even a more formitable task for growing most acacias.
