Sinai Tapestry sets the scene for the rest of the sequence and introduces the main characters so you would be missing out on quite a few references if you read Jerusalem Poker first. Sinai Tapestry is a lot of fun to read too, though Jerusalem Poker is probably more outrageous. Both are wonderful novels.

I simply want to reiterate Anne's recommendation of reading Sinai Tapestry prior to engaging Jerusalem Poker. In fact, I found that these two novels could very easily be bound and published as a single novel. Sinai Tapestry provides a vital foundation to several of Jerusalem Poker's most important characters, such as Joe, Haj Harun, and Stern, and will also make the allusions to Strongbow, Wallenstein, and Johann Luigi Szondi far more enjoyable. For me, chronicling the events of Sinai Tapestry AND Jerusalem Poker was a major step in discovering the richness and complexity of the novels. Sincerely, --Previous Message--
