Re: GSD Puppy Temperament Testing
Early socializing is SUPER important, but it's in very short spurts. My friend and club member, Paul, just came over to see his new pup, "Apollo". Paul, Apollo and I just got in the big diesel truck, went and got hay, and came back. In that time, Apollo was in a new vehicle, went over some speed bumps, saw a huge round bale of hay "following" us, saw some horses, beagles, and the farmer we bought the hay from. By the time we got back, he was exhausted, and this took all of twenty minutes! My business partner, Carole, says "100 new things in 100 days".. so basically the first three months of his/her life with you should be filled with a new experience at least once a day. Formal training, (taking classes, chaining behaviors together) will start at about 5 to 6 months....
