I am writing a paper on DMX512, and I was curious to know what kind of popular alternatives are used nowadays. I have looked at the wikipedia page of DMX512 and found alternatives there, like MIDI, DALI and Lonworks, but it says nothing about popularity.

If you can provide a list of populair alternatives, that would really help my effort on writing this chapter
