The status of 512 channels can be stored to the memory of the transmitter if suitable hardware is selected. That 512 channels of data is jut half kilobyte of memory. Not roo much for a decent microcontrollers available nowadays.

Other way to do that trasmitting is that the transmitter itself does not have a buffer memory, but it relies on the fact that the control program (or external driver) will send the data to the transmitter as it is needed (means pretty constant flow of data when actual data is transmitted to line).
