No the discussion was over a year ago and it was the discussion that first taught me how to use the FERR method. In terms of reliability, measurement wise I am not sure if it is missing any packets as in terms of the response i get, which is actually VERY good, i never felt a need to measure it exactly. I too use a ferr and then start code check, and its worked just fine, but of course, technically is not perfect. I toyed with the idea of having the data go to a second pin and starting a timer and this was mentioned in that discussion a year or so ago. The main point in me asking the question was to ensure exactly the right data was coming in as i wanted to dmx one of my older fog machines, and of course out of control fog is not a good thing. I also wanted to verify the integrity of the data to illuminate a valid data indicator ,and having a PROPERLY valid break (ie longer than 88uS) would have been one of the criteria to be met to ensure a valid condition. colb
