Thought it was nice that Harvick won at Atlanta 20 years after his first Cup win that was there. Very cool that he had 3 fingers out the window honoring #3 Dale on his backward victory lap.

if there was a special reason he did that? I wasn't paying close attention all the time. I don't think he did it his other 2 wins this season did he?

Atlanta was his first win after they put him in the #29 when Dale died. It was only a few weeks after Dale's death. I think that is why he did it.

I'm forgetful about a lot of things from 20 years ago but I've always remembered that whenever Cup races at Atlanta. Harvick was new to Cup & that was his first win at his 2nd Cup race. He had Dale's pit crew and they ran out to congratulate him. It looked like Chocolate was smiling for the first time after Dale was lost.

Steve winning in the first race back then Kevin and finally Jr in July were like band-aids to the heart for everyone.
