Daphne Duck has come back to start another family. I guess not being disturbed in her last attempt, she feels it's a safe space. Not if we can prevent it. A couple of days ago, she came back to the same spot and started digging her nest. We covered it with an unopened bag of mulch. Then she moved away a few feet to our neighbor's He put a rock in her nesting hole. Today, the male and she are back again. She was busy trying to get comfortable digging around the rock.

As much as I enjoyed viewing the last session, we cannot let it continue or it will become a lasting cycle but it looks like she is persistent. After the l5-16 eggs hatched last time, removing eggshells and down feathers was a job. While the eggs were in the nest earlier this year, we didn't want to disturb her so stayed out of the area. This time she is smack down under the newly planted bushes my neighbor planted. If all else fails, we plan on removing any eggs found in an effort to have her move on.
