Re: Daphne Duck
There were 16 eggs in the nest counted before she started covering them up. When she leaves the nest now and doesn't completely cover them up, only about 1/2 of them are seen. I've seen her turn over eggs but whether she brings them up from the bottom too is unknown. Rolling that egg back into the nest as quickly as she did tells me that it's possible. According to our calculations based on when we first saw her settle down on them, they should start hatching within the next week or so (35 days) but that's only a guess, they were laid over a period of days. The next challenge is when and if they do start hatching, they won't all hatch at the same time in my opinion. Once they do, we'll probably shepherd them down to the lake (making sure they get a right of way from cars etc.) unless she does it during the night. I sure don't want to miss it.
