Mama duck is keeping to schedule and never varies. Another duck has hatched her young and 13 little ones are now seen on one of our lakes.

Giving human like attributes, yesterday there was something new. A drake came toddling by with a female trailing behind. I had thought these birds were monogamous but I've since read that is not the case. The drake went up to the brooding mom looking like he whispered in her ear while the female stayed a respectable distance away. Mama paid him no mind. He waddled away with the new female a few feet behind. It reminded me of an errant husband occupying himself with a new lady while his wife was indisposed.
