My oldest daughter's first boyfriend, a fellow still present in our lives, someone I love and wish she'd married, called last night to let us know his mother had just died. Time is going so fast, it seems it was so recent that she, my daughter, and I talked about meeting for lunch, but it never happened. She began to be unable to live alone, had trouble with memory, moved to a senior care facility, caught covid. She seemed to recover, but it worsened her problems with her memory and she passed away last night.

She was such a talented, vivacious, and beautiful woman. One of my fondest memories is spending an evening with her when she taught me to make the fantastic Christmas ornaments we had admired on her tree. She loved my daughter through the years, and wished she had married her son. I always wished the same.
