Re: We're going to be all right.
I was up all night last night as I am many nights, so I'm in a slightly altered state, also very stressed as both my children are not doing well and decisions have to be made that will have repercussions. I am emotional. That having been said, we have watched Trumps departure and the inaugural so far, and I feel a sense of familiarity and a lightness, as if a frightening threat is diminished. There are some things on Biden's agenda that trouble me, but that is minor right now compared to the relief of the return of normalcy and stability. I am so looking forward to the disappearance of daily chaos. Four years ago I thought perhaps Trump was typical of a macho New Yorker, many of whom present with exaggeration, but over the years I have come to see him as increasingly unfit. Since the election he has reminded me of dictators whose style and charisma attract enough people to make big trouble that never ends well. His part in the violent insurrection, the utter disrespect to our Capitol and constitution, the disloyalty shown to so many especially his devoted vice president Mike Pence, has caused me distress. I am looking forward to a coming government of civility and respect.
