I've been reading the propositions on the California ballot for a couple of days now, and will have to make some decisions, it's getting kinda late. It's hard to find the truth, even those analysts that write the pros and cons slant things the way they want. It looks like there are benefits to yay AND nay. I had to read them over twice. It's taken me over 80 years to get this way, but I don't trust anyone anymore.
There's one on the ballot about 17 year olds who will be 18 by the next election being able to be involved in some way which I already forgot, but it's official and gives them say in what is on the ballot. Yay or nay? I say nay. I wouldn't trust a 17 year old with a supermarket shopping list. Let's see if that one passes.
Then there is the one about bail. Should we get rid of the bail system? They say it lets the rich go free, and the keeps the poor in jail. The alternative is to let the courts decide on a point system who may get out. That eliminates the money factor. Interesting.
Things get tagged onto other things, which confuses issues. Did you know in California assault is a misdemeanor? So is domestic violence. Should they be reclassified?
Reading all this stuff, summaries, analyses, pros and cons, rebuttals, recommendations makes one tireder than they already are.
