It is 5:30 a.m. now, and I haven't been to sleep all last night. I napped after dinner, got up about 9, and could not get back to sleep. Mike is home from the hospital (that's another story) and is medicated every 2 hours, and I've been wide awake all night.
So it shouldn't be a total loss, I have been doing genealogy that I haven't done in months. I don't remember what got me started again, but it was yesterday, and who can remember that far back?
Anyway, I saw my grandfather on a tree belonging to someone I don't know, and in trying to find her I've found he's on other trees of people I don't know, so I'm trying to find out who they are. Probably a generation or two younger than me, people for whom he is some distant ancestor. He died when I was only 6 weeks old, so I have no personal memory of him, but I have a gift he gave my mother to save for me. It's a light colored sock filled with Coney Island sand, and tied with a small cord. Funny how other gifts have come and gone, and were forgettable compared to his.
