I remember those fat little books too..but I don't recall that they were anything that I was into. I do recall passing a radio/electronics shop probably in the late 40's and seeing a small box with a picture pasted where the screen might be. I remember being fascinated with the idea that you'd get a picture from something that looked like a small table radio. We never had a TV while I was living at home, I'd be a pest watching a neighbor's in the next apartment. In fact, I was married and bought a TV myself before there was one in my parent's home....and then there was Dick Tracy's wrist communicator..the writer way before his time.
