I've had similar experiences with liquid hand soaps, all well known brands. One was labeled "Cedar" and smelled just like Pine Sol. Another one, Sea Minerals, was just weird. I don't get the soaps with floral smells because they make my husband sneeze. My favorite hasn't been available since the pandemic started. Using a vanilla soap now that smells like vanilla. Lucky me!
