The daughter whose electricity is out and has the damage doesn't have a generator. She lives on the north shore. My other daughter lives two blocks from me but she didn't have any damage or outage so didn't need it. We have a generator too but ours can't be moved around as readily, it's hooked up to the house wiring and runs on either gasoline or butane.. throw a switch and it will run all the essential needs of the house. We had it installed after Sandy. The problem most likely to be encountered on the south shore is flooding but the north shore is prone to outages so I don't know why they don't have one after Sandy. They were out almost six weeks with that.
