It sounds like Frank suffered needlessly. Radiation leaves a lot of damage to not just the cancer but other healthy tissue around the cancer. It was the radiation that killed my father, not his cancer. Like Frank and and RR, he couldn't eat. He gagged on food saying it all tasted like kerosene. Fortunately my dad went quickly. One night he fell into a coma when he was in the hosp less than two weeks - and died. He didn't suffer for long. He too had lung cancer. RR said he will not go through treatments that prolong life for a few months - but a life of little quality.
