You are entitled to an evaluation from Medicare for home health help. Even if you don't qualify for funding, it's a good starting. A close friend worked as a home health care aide and they don't do housework. They can take a lot of the burden off of you for personal care, especially for two of you. We bought long term care insurance many years ago so our premiums are low. My uncle had 24 hour private pay caregivers because of Alzheimers and they were worth every cent. They took care of everything in the house, cooking, shopping, medical appointments, laundry, cleaning, etc. If you have too many assets Medicare will not pay. Even then, it will only go up to 8 hours daily. After dad died mom had people too. Nancy
