Re: Nothing new... Carol
I try to get her groomed about every six to eight weeks. It's an expensive proposition but worth the money. She is better behaved with the groomer than she would be with me and I don't have to deal with flying hair (hers is like silk and blows around easily). Not to mention that she comes out looking beautiful with her nails trimmed and filed and her anal glands expressed. In the interim, I bathe her when she needs it and brush her out routinely. She runs and hides when she see's the brush and comb but it's a half-hour lovefest in the process and she gets a treat at conclusion, so she's very good. She's never left to the point of matting. She naturally doesn't smell doggy or shed. I loved her predecessors but Maggie is without a doubt the winner when it comes to disposition.
This is what a Havanese show dog looks like if someone has the patience to maintain the appearance. Maggie gets a puppy cut which takes off excess hair on her body, legs and beard. Her ears and tail are trimmed but pretty much left otherwise alone.
