Re: Nothing new...
Nothing new is par for the course. Like myself, my NY snowbird friends are delaying their returns north. If Cuomo's statement today bears fruit, NYC is starting to level off. Long Island is behind NYC by at least a week or two so they are still seeing soaring numbers. My daughter's duties as a nurse concern me. She is currently what's considered a "runner". Ordinarily, it's been a physically easier position than her past assignments, caring for oncology patients. The lifting of patients had taken its toll and the more normal hours were a perk. Not the same situation now. A runner has varied experience and are called in where an extra pair of hands are needed. This week she's been on call for a 20 year old autistic fellow who won't stay put. With a guesstimated mental age of a 4 year old, he strips off his clothing and runs through the halls naked. He urinates and defecates wherever. He's there for diabetes stabilization ordinarily something that a normal adult or caretaker would do themselves at home. She had to tell the parent that he would need to be taken home. They don't have the staff or time for his shenanigan's. In the meantime, he is big..almost knocked her down and tore off her mask. She's been exposed to five or more Covid patients. Surprisingly and maybe for my benefit, she seems in decent spirits. One of her friends has been exhibiting signs of illness, not sick enough to get tested but put in a seven day quarantine.
I had to get Maggie out of the house for awhile today while George was doing a chore. I sat on a bench by the lake for almost an hour an a half. It was surreal in the quietness. I only saw two people walking. One of the people had a dog that was a ringer for Maggie. She was a little heavier but her markings and coloration were all but identical and they are not common.
