I bought a laptop the other day. Friends were at me for a while because I must be with Mike in the front room, away from my desk top in the back. They thought it would be good for me to have computer access in the long hours. I had been using the time to watch TV and read, read, read. My daughter thinks she can set up the computer for me, so I'm waiting for her to do that.
I went to a Parkinsons lecture yesterday. A doctor from Loma Linda Medical Center spoke about a new med used as a "rescue" drug, to help when the regular med doesn't last as long as it's supposed to. I had asked his regular movement disorder specialist about this three months ago, she nixed it. Then a student in the masters' program at our local university talked about his project, eyeglasses that have a line in them that wearers can follow. They've found that when people "freeze," following lines can help the brain tell the body to move.
The people that attended were mostly patients, and a few caregivers. Mike is not well enough to attend anything. I am struggling with something the doctor called PMR, yesterday was bad, I could hardly walk or maneuver myself around. The Parkinsons patients were doing better than me. It's been about 2 weeks now that it's gotten so bad.
