My sister is doing as well as can be expected. It's been two weeks now, since my brother-in-law Jim's passing.
I went to the Writers' Group last week, there was a new fellow there, probably in his 50s. Except for our leader, who now attends remotely from Texas, he is the youngest one there. He loved the excerpt I read from my life history, it was the first time since my mentor, Jean, passed away, that anyone has been so enthusiastic about my work. Unfortunately, he won't be coming back, he's really looking for a younger and more serious critiquing group. I told him I could recommend some, and he gave me his card and asked me to let him know. Found out from his card he is a magician at the Magic Castle, Nancy will know this place well, it's a foremost venue for magic in L.A. My daughter's former boyfriend was a magician there, too, and she knows a lot of the people this fellow knows. Evidently, my cousin Jack Oakie, well-known actor from the 30s and 40s, was a supporter of the Magic Castle, and they've named a room for him. Harry Blackwell, III, son and grandson of the Harry Blackwells who were well known magicians of the 30s, 40s, and 50s, was my daughter's close high school friend, she'd spent many a time with the family, so there's another connection. Anyway, it was just fun to have him like my work so well, and then to find out what a small world it is.
