Re: Seeing a orthopedic Onc.... Nancy
We have only 2 here in FL. Moffet in Tampa and Shands in Gainsville. I had more than excellent care in TN. We had some of the best hosps up there. I am going to ask the Dr if I can be treated up there instead of down here where one size fits all and no one seems to care. There have been so many advancements in cancer treatment due to understanding the genetics involved and the better understanding how cancer operates, avoids our immune system etc - but that info doesn't seem to get to Ocala. One nurse at the place I go told me they are at least 20 yrs behind the times in Ocala. She worked up north for years before coming down here. I was also told most of the scanners here were bought used as Hosps updated their equipment. That most are over 20 yrs old. That goes with what the nurse said about being 20 yrs behind the times.
The care here is totally inadequate. The cheapest out of date care possible. It reminds me of the 3rd world nations most of the Drs here are from.
I noticed how OLD and beat up all the scanners and x-ray machines looked. Clean but look like they rolled down a hill before I learned they were all Hosp rejects due to age.
The scanner they used last Sept up at Shands looked brand new and the images were so much crisper and clearer than those taken in these ancient Ocala machines.
